Sweat Southsea opened its doors in April 2015. Founded by now husband and wife duo Luke and Tina Newton, Sweat was created to offer clients a training environment free from the usual crowds, intimidation and egos of a traditional gym. We’ve transformed a huge warehouse space in central Southsea creating four unique studios, two treatment rooms and private bathrooms. We are proud to offer a multi-disciplinary range of fitness classes including TRX, Barre, Pilates and weights based training and we offer a variety of booking options to offer total flexibility for our clients.

You can choose to pay-as-you-go, pay weekly, monthly or annually.

As well as classes, we offer a range of 1-1 services including Personal Training, Sports Massage and Pilates. You can expect to be led by passionate, highly-skilled and highly-qualified instructors, trainers and therapists who are fully committed to their continued professional development.

Luke

Sweat Southsea co-founder Luke has firmly established himself within the fitness industry building a reputation as one of the leading personal trainers in the region. Luke is passionate about helping people reach their potential and achieve their goals and this passion led him to co-create SWEAT. Luke prides himself on his ability to connect with his clients, understand their motivations and become a positive influence in their lives. He says his relationship with clients is based on teamwork, honesty, continued assessment and goal setting. Training with Luke, you'll find yourself building confidence as well as fitness levels.

Tina

Sweat co-founder Tina had never felt comfortable in typical gym environments and so ensuring SWEAT Southsea was welcoming and non-intimidating was top of her agenda. Tina's background in PR and her experience in both events and product launches has helped to establish our independent start-up. Tina quit her corporate career to launch SWEAT and is now busy on maternity leave, enjoying life as a new mum whilst also still maintaining an active role forging new partnerships and avenues for the business. Tina particularly enjoys TRX training, Barre and Pilates.

Eva

Eva is a highly motivated and energetic BSc Sport and Exercise Science second year student. Eva is a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Sports Massage Therapist with a talent for motivating with enthusiasm and encouragement and believes that balance in your life is the key to being healthy, strong and happy. Eva is a very capable sportswoman having competed internationally for Lithuania in Modern Pentathlon and swimming which has given her a great understanding of staying motivated, being goal-orientated, physically and mentally strong, and the impact of barriers and injuries.

Carla

Carla is a keen and highly motivated individual in her final year of studying BSc Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth. Carla is a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and Sports Massage Therapist. She is passionate about the industry and is committed to continually improving her knowledge and skills. Carla’s approach to training comes from a wide sporting background which includes Rowing, Athletics and Swimming. Carla’s a great motivator and is passionate about helping clients stay focused and walk away from every session with a huge sense of achievement.

Laura

Laura has played sport and enjoyed fitness for most of her life and especially enjoys strength training. Laura is a Pregnancy and Postpartum athleticism coach and loves to help women to strength train through all chapters of their life. Laura also loves to train clients using weights with proper form and technique and to watch their confidence grow as a result.
Apart from being a mum and trainer, Laura also plays American football to a high level.

Tom

Tom is our resident Pilates instructor and is available for small group sessions and private 1-1 tuition. Tom is an international educator in anatomy, biomechanics and exercise. Since starting his career teaching Pilates in North Devon back in 2014, Tom has extensively studied injury rehabilitation and human movement. Tom is a Master Trainer for Biomechanics Education and a UK Faculty Member for The Franklin Method. Tom’s belief is that a crucial component to living a long fulfilling life is understanding the principles of healthy movement. If an individual embodies the principles of healthy movement, then every movement they do will produce health. Tom loves travelling and teaching his little baby niece how to swim and skateboard.

Maia

Maia is our resident Barre instructor. Maia is energetic, highly motivated and delivers upbeat, high-energy Barre classes with fresh playlists and well developed choreography. Maia is a Level 2 Gym Instructor studying for her Personal Training Diploma and Sports Leader coaching qualification at Portsmouth College and is committed to learning and developing her skills and knowledge. Maia has a dance background, enjoying ballet, tap, modern and commercial since the age of five. Maia aspires to work full-time in the fitness industry.

Lara

Lara is a motivated BSc Sports and Exercise Science student in her third year at Chichester University. Lara is a Level 2 Fitness Instructor and swim teacher and is assisting with the organisation of the 2019 Fitness Festival. Lara aspires to work within the fitness industry full-time once she has completed her studies.
